Meet Your Board of Directors
Officers
Barbara Barrett – President / Board Chair
Barbara has been a member of Girl Scouts for over 30 years. She was a Brownie Girl Scout in Pennsylvania and has volunteered in three other Councils as an adult, serving in several operational roles as well as several governance roles. She has been a delegate to three previous National Council Sessions. Barbara has been involved in other non-profit organizations as Treasurer, President, founding board member and board member. Barbara is an accountant and financial advisor in Massachusetts. Her interest in serving the Girl Scouts of the Green and White Mountains is to help the new Council become a viable organization that continues to serve our girls and adults. She hopes to bring the new Board together to function as a cohesive, efficient organization as soon as possible. Barbara feels her life has been enriched by the programs and friendships Girl Scouts offers girls and adults and wants to make these opportunities available to as many members in our two states as possible.
Susan H. Donnelly – Vice Chair
Originally from Vermont, Susan H. (Sue) Donnelly is a life-long member of the Girl Scouts; her family was involved in the creation of Swift Water Council. Since 1996, she was an active adult Swift Water volunteer where she was a trainer, leader and service unit manager. Sue was an active member of the Swift Water Board since March of 2007, where she also served on the Executive Committee. In her professional life, Sue works as a nurse at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, New Hampshire. She is currently a Clinical Quality Associate but has many years experience as an Organizational Development Specialist. Sue has facilitated numerous internal and external strategic planning efforts, is knowledgeable in all areas of personnel management and brings data and outcome driven decision making to her paid job and board work. All of these will be useful in the first several years of GSGWM. In addition to volunteering with Girl Scouts, Sue serves on the Lebanon School Board and the Kilton Library fund raising committee. A systems thinker, Sue is very committed to developing a financially strong combined Council that takes into account each legacy Council's strength. This is the only way to successfully serve girls into the future.
William Steinhurst – Vice Chair
William (Bill) Steinhurst has been involved with Girl Scouting since 1975 in various volunteer roles including serving as a Board Member since 1996, Council Secretary for four years, Property Committee and Self-evaluation Task Forces. During the merger process, he was a member of the Governance Subcommittee. Bill currently chairs the Audit Committee and serves on the Property Committee. Following 23 years with the State of Vermont as Director of Regulated Utility Planning, he is now a self-employed energy policy consultant working in many states around the country. He has held positions in Vermont’s Agency of Human Services, Department of Social and Rehabilitative Services and Corrections. Bill has taught statistics for Adelphi University and the University of Vermont, as well as photography for Community College of Vermont. Bill is a Justice of the Peace and serves on other boards reflecting his strong interest in visual arts: Montpelier's T.W. Wood Art Gallery, the Art Resource Association and the Center for Photographic Studies. Bill's main concern is to build on our strengths as we put girls first in our programs and support those who serve them.

Martha is a certified public accountant, and currently serves as treasurer of the GSGWM board of directors. As Treasurer, she is the elected financial officer of the Council, and strives to provide effective fiduciary stewardship and oversight of the Council’s finances. She is also a member of the Friends of WAGGGS USA committee, and has a passion for encouraging the international aspects of Girl Scouting.
