THE DIRECTOR

Megan (Willow) Chamberlain is looking forward to another summer as Camp Director. This will be her 21st year at Camp Farnsworth. Megan has fulfilled the roles of camper, counselor, Adventure Director and Administrative staff. She holds a BS in Outdoor Education with extensive professional experience in the field. Megan thrives on seeing girls learn the importance of developing their full potential, the spirit of teamwork, and the thrill of feeling successful at camp! Megan’s caring nature will make camp a warm, and welcoming place to be for everyone.

THE PROGRAM

• Camp is geared for girls 7-17 years old, whether they are traditional campers, theatrical, arts and crafts savvy or a horse lover.
• It is well suited for the noncompetitive camper where girls plan a program to best suit their needs.
• Endless program opportunities from drama and theater productions to English style horseback riding, arts, hiking, biking, and canoeing and general camp-craft skills program.
• We also have an extensive Camp Aide and CIT (Counselor in Training) program. The Camp Aide program is a volunteer work program for girls entering the 10th grade. Camp Aides are responsible for specific duties in the kitchen, office, childcare, health center and program areas.
• CIT (Counselor in Training) program is a 2-year course to help girls entering 11th grade acquire skills and knowledge needed to become a successful camp staff member. The first year spend 4 weeks brushing up on camping and tripping skills and gain experience working with girls. Return the second year and do an internship!

THE FACILITY

• Camp Farnsworth is situated on over 300 acres of forests, trails and meadows.
• Our spacious Dinning Hall over looks a 45-acre private lake where girls can swim, canoe, kayak and windsurf.
• Our new Recreation Building houses the office and has a stage area for drama and theater activities.  It will be used year around so come check out this great new building.
• Our facilities include 3 Arts and Crafts buildings for general crafts, woodworking and pottery.
• There is a 23-stall horse barn and 3 riding rings.
  
• Camp also has a small trading post, infirmary, large central shower house and ecology building.

UNITS

• When girls sign up for a specific program at camp they are placed in a unit, a community of girls with the same age and program interests.
• Units consist of Adirondack shelters, cabins or platform tents.
• Each unit has a unit shelter, with enough space to hold all the girls for a unit project or rainy day activity.
• Each day at camp is unique because girls help plan their day. The girls may choose from a wide variety of water activities as well as games in the field to hikes through the woods.

STAFF

The 45 staff at Farnsworth come from all over the United States and the World. They are mature and responsible and come from a wide variety of life experiences-most are students, some are teachers and others are recreation specialists who have committed themselves to camping and the promotion of helping girls grow strong.

THE CAMPERS

• Girls come to camp from all over NH and VT as well as New York, Massachusetts and as far as California!
• Each one or two week session has 150 girls that all share a love for camp and making new friends, taking a risk and trying something new and experiences that last a life time.
• You don't have to be a Girl Scout to enjoy all that Farnsworth has to offer.
