Camp Leadership Opportunities

At camp, we empower girls to share their voices and make a difference! Older girls are encouraged to continue their growth with specific leadership development programs. These opportunities are intended for girls who want to share their skills and make camp the best it can be. Each requires an application, references and selection. Day Camp Program Aide Specialist Training, Year 2 and 3

Open to SR and AM

Inspire first year Day Camp Program Aide Specialists! Participate in a day of training in May, enhance your leadership skills while learning new skills to teach at camp. Learn to cook in a brown paper bag, make bubble print paper, and other new project activities.  Teach first-year DCPAs special tips and tricks of working at camp. Day Camp Program Aide Specialist Training, Year 1

Open to CD, SR, and AM Girls must have completed 8th grade to participate in the Day Camp Leadership Program.

Inspire young campers with cool activities, fun games and silly songs! Participate in a day of training in May, learning and teaching leadership skills needed for working at camp. Meet and interview with a day camp director to ensure that you are ready for the responsibility of camp, and then be eligible to have a blast while volunteering for a week or more at camp. Program Aide Core Training

Open to CD, SR, and AM Girls must have completed 8th grade to participate in the Day Camp Leadership Program.

Do you love working with kids? Put your passion into action, as we explore the basic leadership skills needed to work with younger girls. Learn the characteristics of younger Girl Scouts, practice planning an activity, and find out what it takes to help out at Council events. This course will strengthen your leadership skills and you’ll learn how to share what you learn with others.

Program Aide is required for any activity that Cadette, Senior or Ambassador Girl Scouts are working on with younger troops. Program Aide Core Training is a prerequisite for Day Camp Program Aide, Program Aide Specialist, Jump-In Coaches, and working with troops and at Council events. Farnsworth Camp Aide, Barn Aide, and Chenoa Dreamworker

Open to SR, and AM

Applications are due March 15th, 2012 and placements will be made in April. Fee is due after acceptance. This is a volunteer work program for girls. Assist in all areas of camp and then intern in a specific area: waterfront, adventure, barn program, office, kitchen, childcare and more. You’ll have time to plan your own program. This two-year course will help you acquire the skills and knowledge needed to become a successful camp staff member. The first year, spend four weeks brushing up on your camping and tripping skills and gain experience working with the girls. Applications are due March 15, 2012 and placements will be made in April. Returning CITs from Chenoa and Farnsworth will receive information. New applicants must call for more information. Continue to build your counselor skills as you spend one week at Chenoa and one week at Farnsworth observing, teaching skills and immersing yourself in the life of a counselor.

Buddyettes

Looking to take Program Aide training, but can’t fit in during the school year. Join us for the Buddyettes program at one of our Day Camps for a one or two week program! Girls will learn to take action and share your camp experience with younger campers. Learn camping skills, child development, learn techniques to mentor young campers, and assist in the units. Girls in this group will be working on the Amaze Journey. The Program Aide Core Training is a pre-requisites for participating in the Day Camp Program Aide training for girls who have completed 8th grade.
