Us - SE Milford Community News!Community SpotlightMilford Troop 10050 recently completed two community service projects. The first project was part of the Girl Scouts “Go Green” initiative. The troop, consisting of first and second graders, decided to collect used crayons to send to a recycling center where they are melted and made into new crayons. By recycling the crayons, they do not end up in landfills. The troop enlisted the help of the first grade teachers at Jacques Memorial Elementary School and the second grade teachers at Heron Pond Elementary School. Through out the year, the school helped collect 34 pounds of crayons. A big “Thank You” to both schools. The second project was done at Build-A-Bear through the Build-A-Bear community service program. The girls used the money they made selling Girl Scout Cookies to help children in need. The troop made ten bears which have been sent to Children’s Hospital at Dartmouth. The troop hopes the bears will brighten the day of the children in their care. The staff at CHaD is excited about receiving the bears and appreciate the donation. GSGWM staff contact: Erin LaViolette, Membership Manager; 603.627.4158 x151; elaviolette@girlscoutsgwm.org
