A "destination" is any experience, regardless of distance or length of time that provides girls 11-17 with an opportunity to expand her personal experience beyond her everyday scope. In other words traveling, adventures, exploring!!

Experience the whimsical hoodoos of Bryce Canyon National Park or about striking urban symbols like the Statue of Liberty. Marvel at Alaskan huskies on a dog sledding expedition or laugh at the moon reflecting off the very first snow you've ever seen. Just think of the wonderful friends you'll make and all because you're a Girl Scout.

Girl Scout destinations, which are sponsored by local Girl Scout councils, Girl Guide associations from other countries, and Girl Scouts of the USA, are our way of giving girls 11-17 a chance to be part of the international community of girls. You'll gather together to have fun, build memories, and test your skills and talents. Events are open to any registered Girl Scout who is age 11 through 17 or a graduating high school senior.

Remember: destinations are incredibly popular, so not every girl will get her first choice and some may not be accepted at all. But girls can always apply again the following year.

Things to Know

1. Choose from many types of events. See what life is really like for an M.D. or camp in the green depths of the Costa Rican rainforest.

2. You can travel anywhere from around the corner or around the globe.

3. Check the site often — Getaway destinations are constantly being added.

4. Don't be intimidated by the price. Many of the events are offered at reduced prices from what the public would be charged. Plus, you can apply for financial aid once you have been accepted.

You also may use money earned from Fall Products and your cookie dough. If you have participated in both activities you may also do money earners throughout the year. Please refer to Safety-Wise for further instruction.
