In the Events Pathway, girls participate in Girl Scout programming by attending single day Events through the year. Your parent is your leader, supported by Nicole Nolan at council. Girls are encouraged to customize their Journey and have the opportunity to substitute their own activities for the Events we offer. Girls will be required to complete a service project and must have a display or presentation at our end of year Sister to Sister event.
This year, Daisies will be following the ‘5 Flowers, 4 Stories, 3 Cheers For Animals’ Journey. Daisies will
join their Flower Friends discovering how to care for animals, and how to care for themselves. Girls will
be asked to meet with an Animal Care Professional at some point during the year as a part of their Journey. Girls can also join us year round for Journey related activities including Creations in Clay, Animals in Clay, Mother/Daughter Yoga, and Sister 2 Sister Events.
This year, Brownies will be following the ‘World of Girls’ Journey. Brownies will learn that they belong to a large and far-reaching world of girls. They will be meeting girls from around the world in their Journey book and learning a bit about different cultures. Girls will be asked to take on of the stories in their Brownie book and act upon the conflict in the story to create a change in the world around them. Girls can join us year round for Journey related activities including Creations in Clay, Animals in Clay, International Girls’ Day, and It’s Tea Time Events.
This year, Juniors will be following the ‘Amuse’ Journey. Juniors will learn about themselves by sharing stories and trying on different roles. Juniors will be asked to think about the roles available to women and girls. Girls will look at how they are portrayed in media and the world around them. Girls will be asked to make an art project showing what beauty means to them to be displayed at our end of year Sister to Sister Event. Girls can join us year round for Journey activities including Cookie College, Equality: The Shaker Pioneers, and our Theater Series happening at Farnsworth: Much Ado About Theater!
This Year, Cadettes will be following the ‘Breathe’ Journey. Cadettes will be learning about air quality and how important our air really is to us. Girls will be exploring how their actions affect the world around them and be asked to sign a pledge to diminish their carbon footprint. Girls will be asked to pass on their knowledge to Junior Girl Scouts at our Sister to Sister Event. Girls can join us year round for Journey activities including Tuning into the Sounds of the Earth, and “Breathe” at the SEE Science Center.
Older girls can participate in our Girls Rock the Capitol program. Would you like to work side-by-side with a woman legislator on issues that will influence the future of your state? Participants of the Girls Rock the Capitol program discover the impact their voice has in their State House and in the broader world. Open to all high school girls, no previous Girl Scout experience required! Download the application. Questions? Contact Nicole at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information! Additionally, girls interested in completing a Journey through the Events pathway are encouraged to contact Nicole for additional information.
