What is the new membership fee for joining Girl Scouts?
At the 2011 National Council Session in Houston, delegates voted to increase the annual and lifetime membership dues starting with the 2014 membership year. Annual Girl Scouts of the USA membership dues for girls and adults will be $15.00. Girl Scout membership dues go entirely to Girl Scouts of the USA which uses it to develop and provide program (the Girl Scout leadership experience) and services - financial consulting, insurance, tech support, etc - to councils, to support us in our mission to deliver Girl Scouting to girls.
Also, there will be a Council Service Fee of $15 per girl. The Council Service Fee, for girl memberships only, was voted on last year by Delegates and the Board and will stay within Girl Scouts of the Green and White Mountains. It will help to support GSGWM properties, programs and outdoor experiences, background checks, training, keeping up with technology for better customer service, and much more. Read more information on the Council Service Fee. It costs GSGWM more than $300 a year to provide the Girl Scout Leadership Experience to each girl. The extra $1.25 per month, per girl from the Council Service Fee will help us continue to build girls of courage, confidence, and character through the premier leadership development program in the country. We think you'll agree that $30 a year is a bargain for the value of Girl Scouting over a lifetime. See CSF FAQs and the answers.
At GSGWM, we don't want finances to be a barrier to participation. If finances are a concern, financial assistance is available to help pay for membership dues, Council Service Fee and/or program events. To make a request for financial assistance, complete and return this form.
Starting October 1, 2013, lifetime membership for adults will be $375 and reduced lifetime membership for graduating high school seniors will increase to $195.
