Adult Training Weekend Theme Is “Taking Shape”
From songs on the porch, to new skills, taking a required leadership training, or just relaxing and having fun, Autumn R&R is for all adult Girl Scout members. Join us for an energizing weekend at Camp Farnsworth.
Full weekend registration fee includes: two overnights at camp, basic workshop fees (you only need to cover additional fees as indicated) and five meals. Note: You can only register by mail. Download the registration form.
Important Deadlines
- All orders for apparel need to be at the Bedford Service Center WITH PAYMENT by August 18.
- If you are not ordering apparel, all registrations must be at the Bedford Service Center WITH PAYMENT
by August 25.

200 Scouts’ Own “Make It Your Own”
Come learn about a traditional Girl Scouts’ Own Ceremony. We will plan and carry out a Scouts’ Own. Bring your own ideas, thoughts, expressions, poems, pictures, words, music, songs, artwork, etc. Anything that shares how you feel or think about the weekend theme: Girl Scouts of the Green and White Mountains “Taking Shape” which can mean getting healthy and being active to how our Council is continuing to “take shape” by coming together. Weekend ceremony will occur Sunday before departure.

204 Deployment 101 Supporting Youth during Military Deployment
An informational interactive presentation about the unique stresses and strains of deployment. Military kids experience separation, loss, worry, changing roles, loneliness, and the pressure to step up and contribute more to the family while a parent is deployed. 205 Step Up to Juniors: 9:00am–12:00pm
Are you getting ready to lead Junior Girl Scouts? Want to find out what differs from Brownie leadership? We will discuss Junior badges, awards, pins, and touch on the Bronze Award. We will also talk about different types of troop leadership. Bring: Safety-Wise, Junior handbook, and badge book.
Prerequisite: you must have been a Brownie Leader or at least played a significant role with a Brownie troop.

206 Advanced Outdoor Living Skills Pre-Plan
This all-day training starts at 9:00am and ends at 5:00pm with an hour open for lunch in the dining hall.
Topics include: items to carry when backpacking, how to prepare for the trip, how to choose a backpack and how to fit and load it, how to choose appropriate footwear, stove, and sleeping bag, Leave No Trace principles, clinometer, lashing, tool craft, and more.
Prerequisite: must have taken Basic Outdoor Living Skills. This pre-course is a prerequisite to do the 2-night overnight that is October 1st to the 3rd at Camp Chenoa.
Bring: Outdoor Education in Girl Scouting, Safety-Wise and a pen.

207 Fleece Blankets and Pillow
Fleece blankets and pillows for girls any age. No sewing is needed. They make wonderful gifts, are easy to make, and a great community service project for the local nursing home. You will have enough time to finish one and start the other.

208 I’m Not Picky, I Really Can’t Eat That!
This workshop will cover the difference between food allergies, intolerances, and lifestyle choices, and how to rework a menu to make sure that everyone is satisfied physically and emotionally. We will sample some foods and if participants bring a favorite meal menu, we’ll work together to see if we can adapt it to cover different situations.

This is a required course for all volunteers who will be working directly with girls. It provides an in-depth focus on delivering girls the Girl Scout Leadership Experience. These are the outcomes and benefits we are striving to achieve for girls and the processes that best achieve those outcomes. The workshop also focuses on the Journey books which are our tools for delivering the Leadership Experience to girls.

212 American Red Cross CPR: 9:00am–12:00pm
For registered Girl Scout adults who will act as a group/troop first aider at any grade level. This training covers Adult and Child CPR. Adults intending to act as group/troop first aiders must also obtain current certification in first aid which will not be covered in this training. CPR certification is valid for 1 year. A course textbook may be borrowed during the course, or purchased for $16.00.

213 Fun and Adventure Beyond Farnsworth: 9:00am-3:00pm
Take a tour of local hot spots to visit with your girls. Stops could include: Montshire Museum, King Arthur Flour, glass blowing, Quechee Antiques/Railroad, and more. Bring money for personal spending. We need people to help drive.

A fun introduction to basic bridge concepts. Course will include some bridge etiquette, simple opening bids and how to play a hand. Everyone is welcome to visit the all day Bridge lesson on Saturday . Stay as long as you would like. Sunday morning will be full on Bridge games for players to join.

Old-Fashioned Herbal Foot Soaks and Herbal Teas: Inexpensive and effective ways for you and your troop to relax that is easy to do. We will be using fresh and dried herbs, aroma therapeutic essential oils, and other easily acquired ingredients. Bring a clean dishpan that your feet will fit in, a towel, and a pair of clean thick white socks. Pamper yourself!

401 Letterboxing & Geocaching 101 Double Session 1:15-5:45pm

Rumors. The silent treatment. Cyberbullying. Using Rachel Simmons’ bestselling book, Odd Girl Out, as a framework, we will explore the hidden culture of aggression in girls. 407 Walk on the Wild Side (Nature Walk)
Learn to identify trees and plants of the forest floor. Take home suggestions for hands-on activities that you can do with girls. Make sure you have sturdy walking shoes and clothing appropriate for the weather. Resources will be available online.

This is a required course for all future leaders. Invasive insects have already done millions of dollars of damage and show no signs of slowing. Invasive plants cause environmental harm by becoming dominant and disruptive to the native ecosystem. radKIDS stands for resisting aggression defensively and is the nation’s #1 safety program. The presenters want to give you an in-depth overview of a 10 hour program they can bring to your girls. They will discuss topics such as out and about safety, dog safety, bike safety, school safety and more, as well as realistic defense techniques for children’s safety. Please bring comfortable shoes.

508 Reverse Tie-Dye
Bring your own brightly colored, darker colored shirt (bright purple and a magenta pink works fine. Doesn’t have to be navy or black) and you will be shown some options to tie dye in traditional spiral, peace sign, or horizontal/vertical lines. You can expect to walk away with the knowledge to do these tie dyes in reverse, or choose to use colors with your troops.

Be a part of our governance system! The Board of Directors is responsible for the corporate health and strategic focus of our Council. Hear what the Board is working on and share your thoughts with our governance leaders.
Torchbearers Ceremony 8:30pm
Observe and learn what this special ceremony is all about. It recognizes all volunteers who are environmental educators that share their love and knowledge of the outdoors and nature with our girls. Torchbearers began on July 30, 1960 at Tamarack Notch Girl Scout Camp in Rutland, VT. On June 26, 1986 two former torchbearers Aunt Ann Aldrich and Jeanine Gosselin Morelli organized and held the first Torchbearers Ceremony at Merrybrook Day Camp in Derby Line, VT. The first Torchbearers Ceremony held at Camp Wapanacki Girl Scout Camp was in September 1999. Torchbearers must:
1. Be a registered Girl Scout of GSGWM (or legacy Swift Water or Girl Scout Council of Vermont) for at least 5 years.
2. Be involved with Girl Scouting at some outdoor level (outdoor trainer, or involved with day camp or resident camp).
3. Be an ongoing influence not only at the camp but at the troop level as well.
4. Be involved and committed to the ideals of Girl Scouting.
Download the nomination form and send in before September 1st so that someone special in outdoor education may be recognized this year. Nominations for future Torchbearers may be turned in throughout the year.
