Community Service Bars
1 Per Level: Cadette, Senior, Ambassador

Choose an organization you’d like to volunteer with and provide at least 20 hours of service to the organization. Service needs to be approved in advance!

Counselor In Training 1
Grades 10-12

Mentor younger girls in a camp setting as you build skills toward becoming a camp counselor.


Counselor in Training 2
Grades 11-12

If you have earned your CIT 1 you can work with younger girls over the course of at least one camp session while focused on increasing your skills in one specific area – such as riding instruction, lifeguarding or the arts. 


Girl Advisory Board
Ages 11-17

As a part of the Girl Advisory Board, girls are able to give input as to what they would like to see offered in our council, share their opinions with our CEO and staff, help plan events, and make an overall difference in our council.

Girls Rock the Capitol NH and VT
Ages 14-18

Every year Girl Scouts of the Green and White Mountains invites girls ages 14 - 18 to join our Girls Rock the Capitol Program as interns! Girls work with female state legislators in Vermont and New Hampshire to get a behind-the-scenes look at state government, learn about advocacy, and how to enact change in the world. Interns must be articulate, mature, and interested in advocacy or political service. Interns must be able to fully participate in State House days as well as training, evaluation, program events, and regular check-ins with the program leader and the other participants. This commitment includes, but is not limited to: the fall retreat training session in January 2021, 5 legislative sessions, the Learn to Lead: Girl Legislative Day in May, and a final retreat in June (date TBD). Applications are due by November 25, 2020. Interviews will be conducted November 16- December 7, 2020.

Leader in Action (LiA)
Grades 6-8

You can be a Leader in Action by assisting a Brownie troop along their Journey! Use your organization skills or your special talents to teach Brownies something important about their Journey! More information about earning your LiA can be found in The Girl's Guide to Girl Scouting.


Program Aide (PA)
Grades 6-12

Do you love working with kids? Put your passion into action as we explore the basics of leadership skills needed to work with younger Girl Scouts. Learn the characteristics of younger girls, practice planning an activity, and find out what it takes to help out at council events. This course will strengthen your leadership skills and girls will learn techniques on how to share what they learned with others.  Program Aide training allows you to work with younger girl troops, take specialized training for Jump-In, Coastal Rompers, Time Travelers (Laura Wilder Weekend), camp, events, and so much more!

Service to Girl Scouting Bar
1 Per Level: Cadette, Senior, Ambassador

To earn your Service to Girl Scouting Bar you will need to provide at least 20 hours of service in a Girl Scout capacity. Volunteer at an event for younger girls, be an office assistant for the Council or community team or help with special projects and younger girl troop meetings to earn your hours.

Volunteer-in-Training (VIT)
Grades 9-12

Senior and Ambassador Girl Scouts - you have the opportunity to become a Volunteer-in-Training (VIT), even with your busy schedule. Begin this flexible, two-part program with an at-home study that will help you discover your inner leadership skills. You will then work with a Girl Scout mentor over a three to six month period, to develop and implement a program to guide and inspire younger girls. You will be eligible for the Volunteer-in-Training award upon completion of the program.
