GSGWM Celebrates World Thinking Day on February 22

Insidepage_WorldThinkingDay2018

World Thinking Day is a worldwide celebration of Girl Scouts and Girl Guides which takes place every February 22. Over 10 million girls celebrate each other on this day with themed activities and events that address issues affecting young women globally.

The 2018 World Thinking Day theme is “Impact.” Making an impact means having a strong effect on something or someone. We are eager to celebrate World Thinking Day with our Alumnae Association Dress a Girl advocacy project.

Girl Scouts, families and alumnae across NH and VT took action this winter by producing over 500 dresses to be donated to impoverished and at-risk young women and girls in Haiti. This hard work and advocacy helps change the destiny of these girls giving them self-esteem to attend school, and making them feel safer. Official labels stitched on the outside of the dresses sends a message that each girl is under the care of an organization and that each girl is protected and cared for, helping to discourage would-be predators and human traffickers.

GSGWM is celebrating this day with an open house celebration and donation drop-off event open to the public, on February 22 from 5-7 pm at the Bedford High School. For additional information on this event, visit: http://bit.ly/gsgwmWorldThinkingDay
