Girl Scout troop in Colchester is learning new skills and making friends

COLCHESTER, VT – Girl Scout Troop 62615 has been very busy since forming last fall, learning life skills that will serve them well as they grow up. The troop includes nine Daisies in first grade.

Troop Leader Jennifer Gruda said they’ve had several troop meetings so far, and have already earned a petal, the equivalent of a badge at this level, their Promise Center badge, and their My First Cookie Business badge. Now they are busy earning the Cookie Goal Getter badge.  They’ve made the most of outdoor activities in the winter, are looking forward to sledding soon, and have also earned their Snow Adventure badge.

“Once the days get longer and spring hits, we hope to do a lot more dynamic activities, earning a lot of the nature badges hiking and exploring the community,” she said. “We are even thinking playground fun in the spring to tie in some of the petals – being fair and honest, and being a sister to every girl. A lot of the girls are interested in cats, so perhaps a trip to an animal rescue would be of interest.”

Gruda added that they would be happy to welcome more members to their troop.

Girls are welcome to join Girl Scouts any time of the year. Participate by joining an existing troop, forming a new troop, or even as an individual member. Find out more at www.girlscoutsgwm.org.

Girl Scouts is here for them through it all. Cheering them on, lifting them up, celebrating their strengths. Today, tomorrow, together—we’re on their team.
