The STEM Van is back! Choose from one of three 90-minutes programs that can be adapted to any ages: My Backyard Habitats, Repurpose and Redesign, or STEM Detectives: Crack the Case, and have the van come to you!

Learn about program details for each of the three STEM programs below. Participants will work towards badges in the animal series, crafting series, or space science series. STEM Van programming strives to be inclusive of all Girl Scouts and can be tailored to different troop ages, and accommodations Girl Scouts may need to fully participate in our programming.

Troops must have an open outdoor space for the STEM Van to park. Program may be held indoors or outdoors at the discretion of the troop leader and GSGWM team member(s). The van will travel anywhere in the state indicated in the program name.

After registration, a JotForm will be sent out via email to collect program choice, program time, and troop location.

The maximum number of participants per program is 24. Small troops may register together and share a location. Large troops can book two programs the same day for an additional $200 program fee.

When a date has been booked, the title will be updated with (BOOKED - Town). If a date is booked you can reach out to see if we can arrange a program for your troop in the nearby area the same day.

Choose one of the following three STEM programs for spring of 2026:

My Backyard Habitats

Explore the fantastic world of your backyard! Who lives there? What do they need to survive? How can we help? Learn about the habitats in our backyards through a science lens and about the different animals and insects that make our backyards their home too. Be prepared to act as a good neighbor to our animal and insect friends by building an insect hotel, painting your own birdhouse, and making your own bee feeder.

Repurpose and Redesign

Do you have an eye for design? Have you heard of reduce, reuse, and recycle? What part do we each play in keeping usable materials out of the landfill? In this program, we will take everyday items and make them new again! Considering how we can waste less and use what we have to craft endless designs. Items can become usable again, with just a touch of re-working to make something exciting. With up-cycled materials, we will build and design functional crafts including earrings, create candles and hand-craft a pillow. Learn about the many ways to re-purpose items and take care of our environment through sustainable design.

STEM Detectives: Crack the Case!

Grab your magnifying glass and get ready to solve a mystery! You will become detectives as when you dust for fingerprints, crack secret codes, and investigate exciting clues using science, technology, engineering, and math. Working together, get ready to follow the evidence, solve tricky puzzles, and uncover hidden surprises. Along the way, build confidence, sharpen your problem-solving skills, and discover how real detectives use STEM every day. Can your group crack the case?

Facilitated by GSGWM team member(s). Designed for troops with adult chaperones. Badges/patches not provided. GSGWM STEM Van On-The-Go patches may be ordered separately from the Mountain Top Shop. Patches ordered by March 27 at noon for Northern VT programs, by April 8 at noon for Southern VT programs, or May 5 at noon for NH programs can arrive with the van. This program does not have a participant minimum to run.

All adults attending must comply with all GSGWM's policies and procedures and must meet the Safety Activity Checkpoints youth to adult ratios.

After registration, a JotForm will be sent out via email to collect program choice, program time, and troop location. A detailed confirmation will be sent by e-mail within one week before the program date, including in-person program details. The STEM Van will arrive up to 30 minutes early to set up prior to confirmed program time.

Registrations that can be accommodated after the registration close date will be processed for no additional cost.
