Troop Spotlight: December 2024

Girl Scouts around our council are always active – camping, traveling, doing service projects, and making the world a better place. Girl Scouts of the Green and White Mountains invites all Girl Scouts in our council to share photos of their adventures, achievements, projects, and more. Send your photos to us at customercare@girlscoutsgwm.org. Be sure to include a description of the event, your troop number and levels involved, when it took place, and any other relevant information.
Giving for Thanksgiving
Waterbury, VT, Troop 30228 put together Thanksgiving meal bags for the Waterbury Common Market food shelf. The Waterbury Rotary was also doing a turkey drive at the food shelf that day.
Pemi on parade
The Pemi-Baker Community 224 participated in the Plymouth Holiday Parade on December 7. Their theme was “Girl Scouts - Elves making The World A Better place” The girls dressed as elves and carried signs that shared the story of the Wise Owl telling the girls to look for Brownies to help. We even had a tree on a wagon with a Wise Owl sitting on the branches. They had signs also explaining that Brownies are Elves. It gave the younger girls a chance to learn the story of where Brownies gets its name.
Spreading goodwill
Selena and Gianna of Raymond, NH, Troop 10427 took to the streets of Manchester and had the opportunity to spend some time with the homeless population and hand out blessing bags containing a blanket, hat, gloves, scarves, water, and a few snacks.
Gift wrappers
Multilevel Troop 10427 of Raymond, NH, participated as elves helping children who shopped at Santa's Secret Store with wrapping gifts for their families.
Holiday carolers
Troop 60290 of Bedford, NH, had a wonderful night of caroling at Courville Nursing Home. They also distributed handmade ornaments to each resident. Hugs, smiles, and happy tears were shed by girls, leaders, and residents alike, as the Girl Scouts brightened up the holiday season for everyone there! “So proud of these girls!” said leader Jill.
In good voice
Troops 20507 and 20368 caroled in downtown Concord, NH, for Midnight Merriment on December 6. It is the troop’s final year, and they have sung for this event the past 12 years.
Generous Girl Scouts
Troop 12070's favorite part of Girl Scouting is community service. Each year this troop, filled with 49 youth members K-11, adopts other kids for Christmas to help provide Christmas gifts. To make this happen, they use their proceeds from the annual Fall Product sales to purchase the gifts. This year they were able to set aside $750 between their proceeds from last year’s cookie sales and this year’s Fall Product sales. The girls go shopping for gifts over one week then wrap all the gifts the next week. “They love being able to give back to others each year,” said leader Stephanie. 💗
Holiday project
Plaistow NH Troop 59134 decorated a site at the Peach Projects-Holiday Stroll in Brentwood, NH. This is an annual fundraiser by The Peach Project with 100% of the money raised being donated to the NH Food Bank!
Gathering evidence, enjoying tea, parading, and robotics
Troop 62216 of Nottingham had a busy November and December. They had a visit from a police officer to learn about evidence collection for the Detective badge, marched in the Nottingham Holiday Parade, and had a Stuffie Tea Party to work on their Social Butterfly badge. They wrapped up the month with a council program that involved the Girl Scouts with the Merrimack FIRST Robotics team.
