Virtual programs are a great way to connect with your Girl Scout sisters and earn badges and Journeys while at home. Girl Scouts of the Green and White Mountains encourages you to stay safe and healthy while continuing your Girl Scout experience from home! Girls and parents should make sure to review the the Virtual Troop Meetings Safety Activity Checkpoint

In-Person Activities

We are excited to again start offering some in-person activities starting in August 2020. These activities will be held outside with social distancing processes in place.  Please see our calendar to view all of our in-person events and more!

Multi-Level Programs
 Creatures of the Night

For Girl Scout Daisies, Brownies, Juniors : How do wild animals find food in the dark or escape predators? You don't have to stay up late to get a close look at elusive nocturnal creatures. Meet three live creatures of the night with a Squam Lakes Natural Science Center naturalist to learn surprising details of their adaptations, which make them well-suited for night life. October 29, 4:00 p.m.-4:45 p.m.

Democracy for Brownies & Juniors Badge

For Girl Scout Seniors & Ambassadors (Grades 9-12) With a general election coming up, it is the perfect time to learn more about our country’s democracy! You will earn your Democracy badge based on your level in a 2 hour live virtual session from 6-8pm EDT on 10/25.

Seniors and Ambassadors will earn their badge 1-2 weeks after the program.

Let's Make Bagels

For Girl Scout Brownies and Juniors. Join Taylor, Registered Dietitian from Food Explorers, to make homemade bagels! This recipe contains no yeast and uses Greek yogurt to achieve a light and fluffy texture. Get creative with your bagel seasonings! Let's Make Pop-Tarts

For Girl Scout Juniors and Cadettes. Join Megan, Registered Dietitian from Food Explorers to make homemade Chocolate Peppermint Pop-tarts! You’ll learn how to make pastry dough from scratch, a chocolate fudge filling and delicious glaze to drizzle on top with crushed candy canes. December 7, 5:00 - 6:00 p.m.

  Program Aide

For Girl Scout Cadettes through Ambassadors (Grades 6-12) 
Learn how to deliver Girl Scout programming to younger girls under the supervision of adult coaches. This program consists of six weeks of live 1 hour online interactions 9/25, 10/2, 10/9, 10/16, 10/23 and 10/30 at 7:00pm EDT. Google Classroom opens on 9/18.

After completing this core workshop, you will complete a 25 hour internship working with younger girls under the supervision of Girl Scout volunteers. Once both of these are completed and approved by council, you will earn your Program Aide bar and may begin to plan and design activities for younger girls, but adult coaches should supervise the planning process to ensure that the activities are safely planned and will include the Girl Scout Leadership Experience for the younger girls participating in the program. September 18 to October 30.

For Girl Scout Cadettes through Ambassadors (Grades 6-12) 
Wear your camp t-shirt to show your summer camp pride! Join some of the summer camp staff on zoom for an evening campfire! Sing some of your favorite songs, see some of your favorite camp staff, and we’ll even give you a sneek peek about summer camp programs for 2021!

  App Development

For Girl Scout Daisies. Find out how programmers tackle big problems and make great apps while earning the third badge in the Coding For Good Badge series. You do not need to have completed the first two badges in the series to participate in App Development. Solve a problem like a real programmer by decomposing your problem into smaller steps, designing an app that solves the problem, and sharing and improving your app. Runs October 10 through November 14.

   Between Earth and Sky Journey

For Girl Scout Daisies (grades K-1) In this journey you will explore nature and learn how to keep the Earth healthy - visit a park or farm, talk to a scientist, or make origami butterflies to celebrate nature. You will also plan a “take action” project, such as planting a tree, creating a garden for a special location, or put on a play about protecting the Earth. You will earn 3 leadership awards: the Blue Bucket Award, Firefly Award, and Clover Award. Runs October 14 through November 18.

   Coding Basics

For Girl Scout Daisies (grades K-1). Find out how computer scientists write programs for computers to solve problems. With this program, you will explore how programmers write programs that make computers work and how people can use computers to help others while earning your Coding Basics badge.

This program consists of five weeks of content via our virtual program blog site and 2 optional live interactions 11/16 and 11/30 at 5:00-5:30pm EDT.

   Frankentoy - Toy Business Designer

For Girl Scout Daisies (grades K-1). For this badge, you get to have some fun getting into the toy business! We will spend some time working on ideas, designing and developing a Frankentoy! A frankentoy is a “creature” made by mixing and matching different parts of toys. The activity is designed to prompt conversation about responsible innovation, inspired by themes raised in Mary Shelley’s novel Frankenstein. When you have earned this badge, you will have come up with an idea for a frankentoy, designed it, made it better, and shared it - just like an entrepreneur! Runs October 12 through November 16.

  Good Neighbor Badge

For Girl Scout Daisies (grades K-1). As a Daisy you probably are excited to learn about how to help your neighbor. Come find out how you can help your communities by being a good neighbor. Create your ideal neighborhood, learn how to help you community, and have fun with your sister daisies!
You will earn your badge in a 2 hour live virtual session from 11:00-1:00pm EDT on 10/24.

Daisies will receive their Daisy Good Neighbor Badge 1-2 weeks after the program.

Model Car Badge

For Girl Scout Daisies. People get from place to place in a lot of ways. Some walk, or ride a bike or skateboard. Sometimes people take a plane, train or boat, and sometimes they go by car. Now it’s your turn to design and build a model car, use cars to test friction on different surfaces and race your cars. When you’ve earned this badge, you will know how to build and test model cars and understand how friction and gravity effect speed. November 4 - December 9.

Outdoor Art Maker Badge

For Girl Scout Daisies. Explore the outdoors and use what you see and hear to make different kinds of art projects. You will see the colors of nature, hear the sounds of nature and share your outdoor art. For Girl Scout Daisies (grades K-1). Learn about the many things robots do while earning your Robotics 1: What Robots Do badge. Then design a robot that solves an everyday problem.

For Girl Scout Daisies. Are you excited to solve problems? Find out how programmers use computational thinking to solve problems. A programmer writes computer programs, which are sets of instructions that tells a computer what to do and how to do it. Throughout this Journey, you will do computational thinking activities like building a foundation and being persistent; make trail maps, while exploring use of a common language, or a code, to give clear instructions; and learn about the concept of algorithms in everyday life. For Girl Scout Brownies. Who doesn’t love a good snack? In the Culinary Club, Brownies will learn how to make tasty snacks for themselves and their family. Girls will be learning how to make sweet and savory snacks, hot and cold snacks, snacks made indoors and outside. Brownies will discover what makes a snack healthy or not. They will learn about vitamins, fat, carbohydrates, and fiber. As a member of the Brownie Culinary Club, join us as we jump into the world of snacks as you earn your Brownie Snacks Badge. For Girl Scout Brownies. Find out what you need to know to be a happy, healthy Brownie.  While earning this badge, you will learn how to pay attention to what your body needs and how to ask for health help if you need it. As you get to know your body, you will learn what makes you unique. Learn how to eat and play in a healthy way. Learn to spot clues that tell you when you need to take especially good care of yourself and what to do if something bugs you. Runs October 13 - November 17.

My Best Self Yoga Class Badge Workshop

For Girl Scout Brownies. Girl Scout Brownies will earn their "My Best Self" badge in this interactive and fun workshop! Miss Katie with DownPup Yoga, a certified kids yoga instructor and Girl Scout leader, will lead the girls as they learn about how to keep themselves healthy and strong- mentally, emotionally, and physically! Class includes about 30 minutes of yoga with poses, breathing, meditation, and relaxation, as well as mindful activities and discussion of healthy foods, celebrating our unique selves, and practicing gratitude. For Girl Scout Juniors. Find out how to turn a list of criteria into your own working model of a vehicle that’s powered by an alternative fuel! Learn about simple machines in vehicles, engineer a vehicle that uses alternative fuel and build a vehicle prototype. Then, test and revise your prototype and share your vehicle prototype and testing results. When you’ve earned this badge, you’ll know how to use the Design Thinking Process to plan, build, test and improve prototypes. Runs November 18 - December 23.

Culinary Club: Simple Meals Badge

For Girl Scout Cadettes. Join Coastal CPR and First Aid in The Child and Babysitting Safety course which covers child safety and basic care techniques for children. Class teaches basic safety, fun activities to entertain children of various age groups, diapering procedures, providing emergency care, basic first aid and much more! The remote option of this course allows girls to participate with the video and presentation information at home. Some practical skills exercises are also completed ahead of time at home. We then meet in 1 2-hour remote session on Friday, October 23rd to participate in group exercises and practice important skills. Class includes a certification card to show parents that you are a certified babysitter. Course textbook & first aid supplies mailed out to girls before start of course. This course covers most of the requirements for the Cadette Babysitting Badge.

   Programming Robots

For Girl Scout Seniors. Explore how robots work and how to control them while earning your Robotics 1: Programming Robots badge. To understand more about how robots work, explore the parts and systems that make up a robot, and then learn about different ways to control a robot, including computer programming.

This program consists of five weeks of content via our virtual program blog site and 2 optional live interactions 11/23 and 12/7 at 6:00-6:30pm EDT.

Seniors will earn and receive their Senior Programming Robots Badge in the mail approximately 2 weeks after the end of the program. Runs November 10 - December 15.

For Girl Scout Seniors. Our world is a stage, and the sky performs with beauty, wonder, and mystery. Join us live online November 21st, at 6:00-8:00pm EDT (5:00-7:00pm Central Time, 4:00-6:00pm Mountain Time, 3:00-5:00pm Pacific Time). Explore the sky -- from science to stars to stories.

Seniors will earn and receive their badge in the mail approximately 2 weeks after attending the meeting.

Required supplies (not included): basic art supplies including paper, pencil, colored pencils/ markers, scissors, tape or glue, and common recyclables (cardboard, cereal boxes, water bottles, paper/ plastic cups, etc.). November 21, 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm.

For Girl Scout Seniors. Explore light and discover what it teaches us about the Universe! Discover telescopes as light collectors and explore the brilliance of stars. Learn more about the Universe—your place in it and how light is used to make discoveries about it. Join us live online on Sunday November 8th from 1:00-3:00pm EDT (12:00-2:00pm Central Time, 11:00am-1:00pm Mountain Time, 10:00am-12:00pm Pacific Time).

Seniors will earn and receive their Senior Space Science Badge in the mail approximately 2 weeks after attending the meeting.

Required supplies (not included): basic art supplies including paper, pencil, crayons/ colored pencils/ markers, scissors, tape or glue, and a light source such as a flashlight or lamp.. November 8, 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm.

For Girl Scout Seniors and Ambassadors. Have you ever wondered what goes into your favorite technology? Does programming fascinate you? Then challenge yourself to think like a programmer and earn the journey. You will complete your Think Like a Programmer Journey and Take Action Project and explore computational thinking to solve problems, make images with tangrams, create mad libs, and learn more about algorithms, abstraction, functions, and technological innovation! This program consists of five weeks of blogsite programming and two optional live sessions. Runs November 2 - December 7.

  Think Like an Engineer

For Girl Scout Seniors and Ambassadors. Find out how engineers use design thinking to solve problems and dive into some critical thinking to design products that will make the world a better place. Brainstorm, design, sketch, and build, we will go through all of the steps to make your dreams come to reality. Get ready to think like an engineer as we start each meeting with a brain teaser! Runs October 8 - November 5.

  App Development

For Girl Scout Ambassadors. Find out how programmers tackle big problems and make great apps while earning the third badge in the Coding For Good Badge series. You do not need to have completed the first two badges in the series to participate in App Development. Solve a problem like a real programmer by decomposing your problem into smaller steps, designing an app that solves the problem, and sharing and improving your app. Runs October 10 through November 14.

For Girl Scout Ambassadors. Understand the important role coaches have in athletics and share your love of a sport. Outline your coaching strategy and design your very own coaching plans! For Girl Scout Ambassadors. Find out how computer scientists write programs for computers to solve problems. With this program, you will explore how programmers write programs that make computers work and how people can use computers to help others while earning your Coding Basics badge.
