
Troop Spotlight: April 2023

Girl Scouts around our council are always active – camping, traveling, doing service projects, and making the world a better place. Girl Scouts of the Green and White Mountains invites all Girl Scouts in our council to share photos of their adventures, achievements, projects, and more. Taking on the climate challenge and global action badge
Concord, NH, Troop 61345 went to the Seacoast Science Center as part of their work on the Global Action badge and the Climate Challenge patch. At another meeting, they worked on their painting badge. The girls voted on the subject of their mural and, while topics like "healthy oceans" and "the rainforest" were nominated, "ice cream" received the most votes.
Cookies turn into winter sports
Troop 60248 from Bennington, NH, has been busy this winter! The girls had a great cookie sale, and used some of the proceeds for the Cadettes to earn their Snow Adventure badge at Pats Peak ski area during their Scout Weekend on March 5. They also went ice skating at Keene Ice to celebrate Girl Scout Sunday on March 12. The girls were excited to try these winter sports for the first time!
Maple sugaring tour
Multilevel Troop 61489 from Georgia, VT, went to Branon Shady Maples and got to tour the facility, check out the equipment, and had some samples. They even got to try some maple sugar on snow!
Learning to leave no trace
The Educational Farm at Joppa Hill posted on Facebook: “A big thanks to Girl Scout Troop 59003 for their recent work at the Educational Farm at Joppa Hill in Bedford, NH. They came to the farm as part of their Outdoor Junior Award to help clean up the trails and practice leave-no-trace principles. The girls worked on their "take action" project at the farm as they made sure the trails looked safe and clean for future visitors. Also, as part of the visit, the girls designed a “leave no trace” booklet for future visitors to use and keep in mind as they adventure through the trails.”
Meeting the police
Manchester, NH, Daisy Troop 10920 had an amazing time touring the Manchester Police Department. Officers Tennis and Cunningham did not disappoint. The girls were able to see the call center, evidence area, rode the elevator, and checked out the gym. The said the firing range was so cool. Then they went outside to see the SWAT vehicles, including their new MED CAT SWAT vehicle. They displayed their drones and we introduced Hank, a K9 police dog.
Tea time in Salem
The Residence at Salem Woods in Salem, NH, posted this thank you to local Girl Scouts who make a ladies tea luncheon more special.
Easter bunny helpers
Girl Scouts Niko and Hailey helped out with the Candia, NH, town Easter egg hunt. Guiding the Easter Bunny around the park and posing for pictures was the highlight of their day.
Princess party
SU200 just had a Princess Party! They had Round Robin activities, a luncheon and rides in a Pink Limo! VSC Debbie Pawelczyk sent over these pictures. The service unit encompasses Acworth, Langdon, Walpole, Alstead, Marlow, Stoddard, Surry, Gilsum, Sullivan, Westmoreland, Keene, Roxbury, Nelson, Harrrisville, Marlborough, and Chesterfield, NH.
Hooksett troop spreads cheer
Along with making cookie donations, Hooksett, NH, Troop 51670 made Valentine’s Day cards earlier this year for a local nursing home. They are looking forward to earning Girl Scouting’s higher awards, having their annual Cupcake Wars, and more!
Happy Hooksett firefighters and police
Hooksett, NH, Troop 51670 donated cookies and cards they made to the Hooksett Fire Department and Hooksett Police Department. On Facebook, the Hooksett officers posted: “Paige from the Hooksett Girl Scouts Troop 51670 stopped by the PD today to drop off a box of Girl Scout cookies. As you can see Lieutenant Sargent and Officer Roche were pretty excited about that, as were the rest of us. When asked if she would take a photo with us, Paige asked if the photo could be in the jail cells, which as you can see here happened. So technically she did get out of jail free today. Thank you Paige for stopping by, your visit certainly brightened our day!”
Claremont treats schools staff
Girl Scouts of Troop 30261, with the help of SAU 6, donated more than 500 packages of Girl Scout Cookies to the teachers, staff, and administrators of SAU 6. Shown at front are Lydia Doody, Scarlett leBel, Amelia Cushion, Molly Rhodes, Zoey Sullivan, Shyleigh Vosburgh, Natalie Greenwood, Saphira Cox, and Martille Mayer. Salem police appreciated
Trop 60259 of Londonderry, NH, donated Girl Scout Cookies to the Salem Police Department.
Peterborough firefighters welcome Girl Scout Cookies
Troop 63145 of Peterborough, NH, donated cookies and homemade cards to the Peterborough Fire and Rescue Department.
Filling the food pantry
Troop 60278 of Morristown, VT, donated cookies to the Worcester Community Kitchen and Food Shelf’s weekly community lunch.
Sheriff smiles
Troop 10424 in Gilford, NH, donated cookies to the Belknap County Sheriff's Department and gave them a sweet surprise.
Lamoille County cookies
Vermont Girl Scouts donated seven cases of cookies to the local Morrisville Police Department and 13 cases to the Lamoille County Sheriff’s Office, where emergency services and dispatch also operate. Below, 13 cases were donated to Clarina Howard Nichols Center for their women’s shelter residents and staff.
Cookie love for life savers
Troop 30228 decided this year to collect cookie donations for the Waterbury Ambulance Service in Waterbury Center, VT, to thank them for their pandemic support to their community. They also gave the girls a tour of their ambulances.
Grateful at Gifford Medical Center
Girl Scout Troop 63154 of Randolph, VT, brought donated boxes to health care workers who serve the pediatric population today. Gifford Medical Center is their community hospital and they featured the troop on their Facebook page.
They plan to donate to the University of Vermont Medical Center Children's unit as well.

Troops 30560 and 20002 donated cookies to Barre, VT, town police department and got to see the holding cell on their visit.
