Governance
Governance structures are part of every Girl Scout Council and are defined in the Council bylaws.
The council's governing body is its board of directors. Under the leadership of the chair, the board maintains the integrity and the purpose of Girl Scouting within our council’s jurisdiction.
The board's responsibilities include: influence policy regarding the council goals, issues affecting girls, and issues affecting the business of the organization, as well as, strategic planning, financial oversight, and fund development.

Girl Scouts of the Green and White Mountains' Board of Directors ensures the voices of our members are heard in the decision-making process of our council.

Encourage girl members to apply for GSGWM Board Positions
Who knows better what girls want out of Girl Scouts than the girls themselves! You can have an influence on future council direction by becoming a member of the GSGWM board. Girl Scouts 14 and older are eligible for a seat on the board, which meets six or seven times a year, and requires a one-year commitment. Girl board members don’t get to vote, but do get to influence policy. It’s a great opportunity to see how a nonprofit board works!
