G.I.R.L. Expo NH offers everything exciting for girls

Girl Scouts of the Green and White Mountains host event Oct. 13 in Bedford

BEDFORD, NH | Girl Scouts of the Green and White Mountains will host G.I.R.L. Expo New Hampshire: Everything Exciting for Girls at the NH Sportsplex in Bedford on Saturday, October 13, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The expo is open to the public and includes performances, hands-on exhibits, free workshops, giveaways, and more.

This year's expo offers G.I.R.L.s (Go Getters, Innovators, Risk-Takers, Leaders)™ ages 5 to 18 plenty of opportunities to broaden their interests in the outdoors, STEM, healthy living and life skills through interactive activities, plus hands-on workshops for girls and their families.

This year’s expo features performances by Kristina Lachaga, Meredith Rojas of Selfie-Made and Digitours, Miss Teen New Hampshire, Subzero Ice Cream, the McGonagle School of Irish Dance, and the Ameri-Kids baton twirlers, plus the Girl Scout Pastry Chef Competition.

Among the hands-on activities and workshops are bread-baking with King Arthur Flour, FIRST robotics, Zumba and line dance, Canvas Roadshow painting, Under the Sea crafts, financial literacy with Citizens Bank, cooking demos with Hannaford, reading with the author of Mouse Scouts, Restaurant Olympics with the NH Lodging and Restaurant Association, archery, Airsoft riflery, the mountain bike zone, underwater robots, pottery wheel demos, computer programming with Raspberry Pi (Comcast), and more! Over 100 exhibitors will give everyone a chance to connect with local businesses and organizations and learn more about programs and services in their communities.

“G.I.R.L. Expo is the perfect opportunity for girls and their families to connect with one another and explore the incredible opportunities that girls have through Girl Scouting,” said Patricia Mellor, CEO. “Girls will get the chance to try new things, challenge themselves in new ways, and discover ways to build their confidence while having fun.”

Tickets are available at the door. Lead sponsors are the NH Sportsplex, Catholic Medical Center, The Common Man Family of Restaurants, and Stonyfield Yogurt.

Through Girl Scouting, girls learn to face challenges head on, embrace failure as a learning opportunity, create lasting relationships, and find solutions to social issues—all while building the skills and courage they need to take the lead every day and empower themselves for life.
