Girl Scout Troop provided food, toys and more to Sullivan County Humane Society of NH
CLAREMONT, NH – When Girl Scouts decide to change the world for the better, they include shelter animals in that goal. The Girl Scouts of Troop 30261 in Claremont recently put the proceeds they earned from last year’s Girl Scout Cookie Sale into the Sullivan County Humane Society of New Hampshire by donating food, toys, and more.
The multi-level troop includes girl from kindergarten age through eighth grade. Daisies, those in kindergarten and first grade, donated food and litter as part of their Three Cheers to Animals Girl Scout Journey. Brownies, those in second and third grade, made automatic pet waterers, made from recycled bottles, as part of their Wonders of Water Journey. Using power tools on that project was something they found exciting. Juniors, who are in fourth and fifth grade, made pet toys from recycled T-shirts as part of their Breathe Journey. Cadettes, who are in grades 6-8, made homemade animal-safe and environmentally safe hand sanitizer. All the girls enjoyed visiting the animals in the shelter.
The shelter posted their thanks on Facebook. “A huge thank you to Girl Scout Troop 30261! We could not be luckier or more thankful to be chosen to be part of their ‘Journeys.’ …. What awesome ways to recycle items and help the animals at the same time. You girls are doing a lot of pawsitive things for the people, animals and the environment.”
Girl Scout Cookies power amazing experiences for the Girl Scouts who participate in the program. These girls gain skills in financial literacy, people skills, money management skills, goal setting, and business ethics.
Girl Scout Cookies are available for only a short time each year. You can find a cookie booth near you till the end of March by visiting www.girlscoutcookies.org.
