AOLS training provides volunteers with the knowledge and skills to camp with their Girl Scouts in multiple nights in primitive sites, including backpacking, water travel, or winter camping settings. During this offering of AOLS participants will practice AOLS skills with an emphasis on backpacking. This will include packing a backpacking back pack, and hiking for an extended distance before setting up a primitive campsite (with choice of tent or hammock sleeping arrangement). We will cover the basics of primitive camping away from amenities including electricity and running water, how to cook over a backpacking stove, and all about health and safety on trips. We will provide all group equipment, backpacking packs, and food; participants only have to bring their own clothing and personal camping gear.

All participants should have completed or plan to complete the Outdoor Adventure Workshop (OAW) training (the OAW is available on gsLearn for free) and BOLS training prior to this AOLS training.

Facilitated by GSGWM team member(s) or volunteer(s). Designed for adult volunteers. Fun patch provided. Saturday meals, a snack, & Sunday breakfast provided. This program requires at least 5 participants to run.

All adults attending must comply with all GSGWM's policies and procedures.
