This next level BOLS Train the Trainer opportunity is for adult
volunteers that are interested in training future BOLS trained adults
in their communities. This training is open to adults that have
already completed their Outdoor Adventure Workshop (OAW) training,
Basic Outdoor Living Skills (BOLS) training, AND have taken groups of
youth camping on multiple occasions.
Attendees can include previous BOLS or outdoor training instructors or those that are interested in becoming an instructor. Adult volunteers who complete this course should be prepared to instruct at least one BOLS or outdoor training course every 1-2 years as coordinated with GSGWM which will require volunteer time and no additional cost to instructors. Both the blended BOLS training (5 hours plus blended learning and the in-person BOLS overnight (about 9 hours including an overnight) provides volunteers with the knowledge and skills to camp with their Girl Scouts in developed campgrounds and campsites and for multiple nights and cook full campfire meals.
This BOLS Train the Trainer course will cover both BOLS training curriculums, how to coordinate with GSGWM to set up and run a BOLS course, allow participants to share tips and tricks for camping with youth and enjoy a great opportunity to bond with other dedicated volunteers across the council. Participants will be able to observe and help lead a blended BOLS training planned for Sunday from 10-3 p.m. which overlaps with this training times.
Facilitated by GSGWM team member(s). Designed for adult volunteers. A Saturday cookout dinner, Sunday breakfast, Sunday cookout lunch, and snacks are included. This program requires at least 3 participants to run.
You will receive a detailed confirmation including arrival details and a packing list by e-mail within two weeks before the program date. Check-in time is between 3:30-4 p.m. ET with programming beginning at 4 p.m. ET.
Registrations that can be accommodated after the registration close date will be processed for no additional cost.
