Girl Scouts of all ages and their families, do you love State Parks? Come show that love to Mount Ascutney State Park on Sept. 20! Join Park Interpreter, Pat, for a fun and challenging scavenger hunt and hike around the summit of scenic Mount Ascutney.
Test your knowledge of mountain ecology, map reading, geology, Vermont history, and migratory birds. You will get the chance to spot kettles of migrating hawks and enjoy long, beautiful views of the Vermont landscape. Plan to hike, read a map, and solve clues to earn rewards on this engaging and interactive program. This program includes a moderate two-mile hike on a rocky trail and is suitable for all ages.
The program runs from 1:00-3:00 PM, but participants are welcome to arrive at the park starting at 11 AM for self-directed exploration. Program meet-up is at the trailhead kiosk in the parking lot near the summit 10-15 minutes before 1 PM.
This program is facilitated by our partner, VT State Parks. Designed for families, troops, or individuals with an adult chaperone. Fun patch and sticker provided for all registered participants at no additional cost. No food or drink will be provided; please bring your own water and snacks. This program requires 10 girl participants to run.
How to Register:
- Girl Participant is any youth in grades Pre-K-12, regardless of membership status
- Adult Participant is any adult, regardless of membership status (should be age 18+)
- Family members age 3 and under are welcome to attend and do not need to be registered. Please keep in mind that very young children may not be able to partake in all activities depending on level of difficulty.
Adult chaperones should also register for this event to meet the Safety Activity Checkpoints' youth to adult ratios. All adults attending must comply with all GSGWM's policies and procedures.
You will receive a detailed confirmation, including arrival details, by e-mail within one week before the program date.
Registrations that can be accommodated after the registration close date will be subject to a $3 late fee per person.
