Troop Spotlight: May 2024

Girl Scouts around our council are always active – camping, traveling, doing service projects, and making the world a better place. Girl Scouts of the Green and White Mountains invites all Girl Scouts in our council to share photos of their adventures, achievements, projects, and more. Send your photos to us at customercare@girlscoutsgwm.org. Be sure to include a description of the event, your troop number and levels involved, when it took place, and any other relevant information.
A visit to the Girl Scout Birthplace
Baeleigh Benedict of Rochester Troop 60244 and her family made a quick visit to the Girl Scout store in Savannah, GA, to learn more about how to plan a full week trip at the birthplace of Girl Scouting.
Reeling them in
Girl Scouts of Troop 10427 in Raymond, NH, enjoyed a successful day of fishing.
Plymouth troop spreads the love
Plymouth, NH, Troop 62526 made a lot of people in their area happy with a series of Girl Scout Cookie donations. Two cases were split between Campton Police, Campton Fire Department, and Plymouth Pease librarians. They have several girls from Campton and the library hosts three troops and leader meetings.
One case went to Plymouth Police and one case to Plymouth Fire, who, ironically, dealt with the Flying Monkey fire a few hours later and then the cookies were shared with those responding by mutual aide. Two cases went to the Plymouth Area Homeless shelter at Whole Village.
One case was split between the kitchen and Environmental Service staff at Speare Hospital. Rather than bringing it to nurses and doctors, the mother, who is a registered nurse, felt that these employees never get acknowledged.
Girl Scout Cookies were also delivered to Plymouth Congregational Church for the “Feed my Children Program,” Plymouth Congregational Church for use at various church functions including a statewide Women’s Retreat, the Circle Program, which operates a mentorship program and Circle Camp free to at Risk Girls during the summer, two banks that service their unit, and to the residents of the low-income veterans apartments in Plymouth. Many are seniors and served in Vietnam War.
Saint Albans troop parades, donates cookies, and enjoys art
Troop 30456 won Best Youth Float at the Maple Festival parade in Saint Albans! The theme this year was Totally Eclipsed by Vermont Maple and the girls decorated the float with syrup being poured over an eclipsed sun/pancake. Two of the girls dressed as the sun and moon as they tried to get in front of each other throughout the parade.
Brownie Mia delivered Gift of Caring cookies to her local fire department. They were very grateful!
The Brownies of Troop 30456 had an art show! After completing three art pieces for the Art and Design badge, they got a chance to display them for friends and family. Troop leaders and Cadettes served refreshments as everyone got to explore the talent, then they had a little special badge distribution.
Staff-run troops provide STEM centerpieces
Thirteen council-run troops were challenged to research and make a table centerpiece that represents women who made a contribution in a STEM field. These centerpieces were displayed at the tables at the NH Tech Alliance’s TechWomen/Tech Girls Connect and Awards event on May 16.
